We found Tamarind by chance when we visted the Sebel across the road for a drink. So glad we did - the meal was absolutely superb, the staff engaging and friendly without being too 'in your face'.

Definitely worth a revisit!

When recently visiting cairns Tamarind was recommended to us, we were lucky enough to get a table and were not dissapointed. The service was second to none, whilst being very professional still managed to be friendly. The food was fantastic with such an array of flavours and i would recommend the barramundi to anyone who doesnt mind a little bit of Chilli ;) No wonder they have won several awards already this year. Highly recommended

Beautiful Asian Cuisine,

Only the most hard to please palette would be disappointed eating at Tamarind, the food is truly exceptional with a regularly changing menu to keep you coming back again and again. One thing the other reviews have not mentioned is the marvelous modern asian decor and setting. Overhead spotlights add ambiance and compliment the overall feel of opulence.

The service is also worth noting as being quite a few tiers up on your average restaurant even by fine dining standards. Overall it is an excellent establishment and my favorite restaurant in Cairns. Inevitably I do eat at Tamarind regularly.

5 out of 5.

I was visting the Cairns area recently from Sydney and had dinner at Tamarind. Whilst the entrees were ok (some were a little too salty), the mains were not so good. Our group had the beef, salmon, lamb shanks and seafood curry? The flavours of both the beef and salmon were far too complicated. It was as if the chef wanted to use every herb, spice, sauce, etc in the one dish. The flavours were overpowering. For me a good food is food that keeps you guessing as to what the ingredients are....Unfortunetly Tamarind just did not know how quite to achieve this.

Having commented on the food, I must say the service was exceptional. Overall, I would not return for another meal

When I want to dine out in Cairns Tamarind is my first choice. The food is exquisit with a large variety of flavours for even the fussist diner. They are open all week now due to its increasing popularity, and their supervisor Ashley Carter makes sure that your every need is catered for. I just love the intimate ambience too.
Well done Tamarind.

Very deserving of their 2006 Restaurant of the Year award from the Restaurant & Caterers association, Tamarind Restaurant suprises me with every visit. Consistantly innovative and delicious cuisine with impeccable service. Manager Gillian trains her staff well and runs a busy but efficient restaurant. The ocean trout was described by a member of my party as the best fish they'd eaten in their life!
