HTC are currently working on the new botanical gardens project and our small group of carpenters have tried most of the restaurants in the local area, this is the best in our opinion, the staff are friendly the surroundings are beautifull and the menu is varied and wholesome. we eat there every day!!

Seriously Disappointed Guests

We had a very disappointing breakfast at this cafe on Sunday 2 May. We ordered a strawberry waffle that arrived soggy due to the excess of whipped cream and icecream piled high on top of the waffle. We expressed our dismay when it arrived and the waitress ignored our obvious shock at all the cream. We proceded to use any plate we could lay our hands on to remove the cream. We decided to pay half of the $15.90 waffle charge when it came time to pay the bill. Our reasoning for this was that we had been unable to eat even a quarter of the waffle -because it tasted more like a wet hot cross bun - and there was no mention of cream/icecream on the menu description of their waffles. The manager showed little concern for our complaint - simply stating no one else had ever complained before. What was more disappointing was the complete lack of interest by the wait staff. I do not recommend this cafe to anyone - particularly given the service, high prices and fattening food on offer.

The atmosphere is awesome, the food is even better! If you visit Cairns, do take time to visit the tranquil grounds of the Botanic gardens and why not pop in to see the wonderful staff there. Outstanding service with a smile included is defiantly at this cafe.

Don't forget to try the legendary waffles and eggs benedict!

Yes, I love the cafe but my sister and I both have a wheat intolerance and they never have wheat free cake which a lot of the other cafes in Cairns do have. We still have a coffee there though and enjoy it.

If you go here for lunch, make sure you leave enough room for dessert. These guys make the largest, most awesome waffles I've ever seen! I always share them with my partner, and we have trouble getting through just one! Pastas are also great here.
