Yama Japanese Restaurant

We are Cairns residents and this delightful restarant has the best sushi and sashimi platters and bento boxes we've had in Australia. The food is exquisite, beautifully presented and CHEAP - not something you often find in Cairns which usually slams you with tourist overpricing. The restaurant is very popular with locals and can be very busy for business lunches, so get there early. They have a couple of pavement tables which are fantastic for evening dining al fresco. Watching the sushi chef, Sami, is an experience, you can sit at the sushi bar and watch him weave his magic.

Well what can I say! Sammi you are a master. The food is always fresh and delicious, and they can not do enough to please. No wonder it has survived for in excess of fifteen years.
A visit to YAMA is always the same - Tried and True.

I have been dining out at Yama's for nearly 10 years now, i constantly spread the word about how great the food is. Very well priced and the service is fantastic. The best feature would have to be Sami. :)

This is easily the best casual Japanese restaurant in Cairns, we go all the time, it is affordable delicious, fresh and the portions are huge. And best of all you can take any leftovers with you to snack on at home!

Absolutly delicious Japanese cuisine...the finest in Cairns. Highly recommend the lunch menu also and has the convenience of take away available also... *****
