I go to Coolums regularly on the weekends for breakfast and the food is wonderful, the price very reasonable. I love the peace and quiet and the view is excellent. It is also very pleasant at sunset with a glass of strawberry champagne.

My partner and i were seperated for 10 months while i travelled Australia and we decided that when Scott flew to Australia to spend the last 5 weeks of my trip with me, we'd start our holiday together up in Cairns at Holloways Beach.

Coolums was opposite our hotel and wanting to celebrate our reunion, we enjoyed a cider and chat with the friendly staff before booking to come back later that evening for a meal. We couldnt have hoped for a more romantic reunion.

Romantic, relaxed setting was perfect, food delicious, service outstanding and so very friendly that it is the most fantastic all round restuarant we have ever been to and it will always remain our special place.

Thanks for making our reunion so memorable!

My husband and i have eaten at over 40 different restaurants in Cairns since we arrived last September from Melbourne.
Coolums was number 45 , and in our eyes was the best restaurant in Cairns, across all categories.
The food was tasty( loved the Coolums Chicken Rissotto), the quantity was more than enough, the service was fantastic (thanks Ros), the atmosphere was divine(what a setting) and the price was right! The cookies and cream cheesecake was to die for!!!
Thanks again for a great experience and will highly recommend this place to all our family and friends when they visit Cairns.
Was a great pleasure and will be back again!
Thanks

Wouldn't go again. Very over priced (has to be the most expensive oysters in Cairns). For the prices charged, would expect at least a tablecloth or placemats.

we were lucky enough to have a chance to stay at holloways beach recently and being a little off the beaten track imagine our joy at finding Coolums directly across the road from our resort. We had planned to eat out in Cairns every night that we were there but apart from one night we spent every night enjoying a different cullinary delight at Coolums. The staff were just lovely, Andrew took care of our every need, quietly filling our drinks when empty and making the most superb cocktails. The food was second to none and Shane and the other staff made sure we were made to feel welcome. Can't recommend highly enough. The live music was lovely too, not intrusive and very enjoyable. As for the setting, you just can't beat sitting literally 10 metres from the beach with flickering candlelight softly lighting your surroundings. 10/10 from both of us. Well done Shane and Andrew (and the owners of course), we'll be back with friends!!!

I recently visited Cairns for the first time and decided to check out this restaurant. As I am in the hospitality industry, and very hard to please, I thought I would see what Cairns' only beachfront restaurant had to offer.
What a fantastic experience. Friendly staff greeted us at the door and escorted us to a beachfront table with an un-beatable view. As you walk through the restaurant, you can't help but feel welcome from the inviting staff.
The service we recieved was first class, as was the food. The VERY reasonably priced wine we were reccommended was only beaten by the Wagyu steak and the seafood platter we enjoyed.
All in all, in this industry, this place has got my vote. 10 out of 10.
Thanks for your service and professionalism guys, its great to see someone in Cairns has got it right.

One of the nicest holiday restaurants we have ever visited during our travels around the world. Superb food and wonderful atmosphere supported by pleasant, attentive staff. A delightful place to dine at affordable prices. One the highlights of our stay at Holloways Beach in November 2004.

I visited Coolums with my partner whilst in Cairns a few weeks back and we found this to be very special place.
We first discovered Coolums last year when some locals living at Holloways let us in on their "secret". What a great setting. You can't get any closer to the beach if you tried. After a day in the water, nothing could have been better than a cold glass of chardonnay (the wine list is good and reasonably priced) and half a dozen tempura oysters with their crisp light batter.

I followed with beef fillet that had an incredibly rich demi -glace and my vegan partner was very pleased with the vegetarian pasta. The best part however was the location. Truly romantic. We gazed into each other's eyes while the flares flickered then kicked off our shoes and wiggled our toes in the sand under the moonlight.

When we visited earlier in week to make our reservation the staff were setting up for a wedding. Perfect. I remember that they used to have jazz on a sunday afternoon which was teriffic but I believe some neighbours (who were obviously not music lover's decided to bring that to a halt. What a shame.

We will be back.
