BYO is an acronym for "Bring Your Own." Wine, that is.
A BYO restaurant is unable to supply diners with any alcoholic drinks, because they are not licensed to do so. You are able to bring your own alcoholic drinks to a BYO restaurant, and the restaurant can pop the cork. However, some restaurants will charge a small corking fee.
