Licensed
A licensed restaurant is one that stocks a variety of wines and other alcoholic drinks. You are able to purchase these alcoholic drinks to have with your meal, as long as you consume them on the premises.
Usually a drinks list will be presented to one person at the table - quite often this person will be the oldest male, as a matter of custom. If you are unhappy with this custom, let the waiter or waitress know who will be choosing the wine as soon as they approach the table. Once a selection has been made, the waiter or waitress will bring the bottle to the table for the person to sample a small amount. If it is acceptable, drinks all round!
Drinks purchases at licensed venues are usually more expensive than buying them at a bottle shop, but the convenience of choosing from a wine list can be very enjoyable.
